Lung Function Testing is the measurement of how quickly you can move air out of your lungs. For this test you breath into a mouthpiece attached to a recording device (spirometer) that collects information that may be printed out on a chart called a spirogram.
Why are these Lung Function Test done?
- To determine if there are breathing problems
- Diagnose certain lung diseases, such as asthma/ occupational asthma
- Monitor the lung function of people who are exposed to substances that can damage the lungs
These tests are of critical importance as chemicals, particulate dust, or reduced oxygen in the air causes health hazards for workers!
