Trade unions have always made it clear that the use of mind-altering substances, whether legal or illegal, has no place in the workplace, and can be a major safety risk.
Employers do have a duty to protect the safety of their workplace.
That includes ensuring that employees are not working under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Drug testing only takes place when requested by an employer such as stated in the agreed/signed contract by the employee. Here at Mobile Medical Surveillance we do test for all types of drugs, unless it requires blood tests, the customer will then be referred to a pathologist.
Urine testing does not only help with finding illicit substances
BUT it also helps finding any health problems which can break or make the work opportunity for the employee and at the same insure a company’s health and safety regulations which again protects the policy of the company.
